Damien Paul Isle of Wight

Damien Paul then shifted the atmosphere up a gear with his full band set up, with Simon Clarke on the harmonica, Tim Hollis on the double bass, and Joe Wolton on kit. Damien has a new album out called ‘Mostly True’ and played some of his new material. Fans that follow Damien on the gig circuit were excited to hear fresh tracks, I’m sure.
Damien and the band started with a country track that had a slight cowboy western feel! Damien’s vintage resonator guitar truly stood out, in looks and in timbre. The guitar holds that particular tone that suits Damien’s material to a T. Damien and Simon used great use of call and responses between the vocals and the harmonica throughout the set. Joe’s rhythm on the kit and the double bass lines from Tim used driving as well as laid back patterns that you couldn’t resist tapping your feet to! Damien Paul is a brilliant musician, holding influences from the likes of Muddy Waters and Johnny Cash.
